Aquarium according to Feng Shui: basic rules
Have you decided to install an aquarium according to Feng Shui? If you are not strong in aquarium keeping, use the services of specialists who will organize the proper operation of the aquarium for you, and will also periodically come to check its condition, clean and care for it.
Feng Shui aquarium
Goldfish are a sign of abundance in many cultures. I would like to give an example of our fairy tale about the golden wish-fulfiller, but Alexander Sergeevich simply rewrote the interpretation of a Chinese fairy tale.
The size of the aquarium should not be too large compared to the area of the room where it is located. Otherwise, it will flood the areas you were planning to activate.
Keep the water in the aquarium clean and do not forget to take care of your pets, thus attracting money. Clean water, healthy fish and plants are all important.
Electricity
Please note that aquarium equipment requires electricity to operate. Therefore, if you do not want to run wires across the entire room, there should be an outlet next to the aquarium that will always be used for its equipment. Special attention should be paid to this, because you cannot turn off the filter, heater or compressor for a long time.
The outlet itself should be located so that water does not fall on it. If you have a saltwater aquarium, then grounding is a must.
Feng Shui aquarium in the apartment
Good shapes for an aquarium are circle, hexagon and rectangle. It is better to abandon the square.
- Do not place an aquarium opposite the windows and the entrance to the apartment - your finances will leak out through all the cracks. According to Feng Shui, do not place an aquarium in an apartment between the doors, the energy will loop between them and will not flow anywhere. But you can place it on the left side of the door.
- It is also not recommended to place fish under the bars and in niches, because... they will die.
- Do not place the aquarium in a fire area.
Where is the best place to put an aquarium in an apartment? In the living room, where you receive friends.

How to choose an aquarium to match the style of the room?
There are many different styles and room design options. It is not difficult to fit an aquarium into them if you follow certain rules. This will help create a comfortable environment in the room without disturbing the integrity of the space.
Classic model on a stand
Among the popular styles in which it is appropriate to place aquariums are:
- High tech. An aquarium in this style can be installed in the form of a column or as a partition. The equipment must adhere to strict geometric shapes, which will help it fit organically into the interior.
- Minimalism . The main thing is to keep all the internal elements of the aquarium in the same color scheme. It should be calm and not flashy, which will highlight the overall style of the interior.
- Pop Art . A bright element of the room in the form of an aquarium will quickly become a key figure in the interior. You definitely need to add bright elements to the container, as well as unusual decorations for its inhabitants. The more different colors there are, the better the equipment will blend with its surroundings.
- Classic . This style involves carved details, painting, as well as elaborate elements and stucco. The aquarium can be placed inside a column or on an original stand in the form of a sculpture. If the structure is placed on the wall, then it can be decorated with a baguette or original lighting.
- Art Deco. To emphasize the chosen style in the interior, you need to use different shapes and lighting. To do this, you can use just one or several shades. When installing a classic aquarium model, the lighting should correspond to the preferences of its inhabitants. If a dry model or imitation is installed in the interior, then colored lighting is allowed.
We emphasize the style of minimalism
Any type and shape of an aquarium will look like the main element of the room in every style. All attention will be focused on him.

How many fish should there be in an aquarium according to feng shui
Eight is the number of money, so in an aquarium it is customary to place 8 fish with golden scales and one black one for protection. There is an option - four gold, four red and one black. If some fish died, it is believed that it took bad luck away from you. Don't be upset, just try to buy a replacement for it as quickly as possible.
When it comes to burying your fish, don't throw it down the toilet. It is better to do this in the same way as cats and dogs are buried. The fish that warded off bad luck from you, giving its little life for it, deserves to be buried.

If you want to have an arowana, then it alone symbolizes untold wealth for its owner.
In China, they use golden koi carps - Tai fish; they do not require special care, but not everyone can afford their size and gluttony. In modern aquariums, veiltails, discus fish and cichlids are used instead of koi.
Veiltails also have a good appetite and can quickly spoil the water in an aquarium. Make sure you can maintain them well. The water should always be clean.
Discus fish do not survive with plants in artificial environments. So they should be started if such an aquarium (without greenery) is combined with the general concept and design of the office.
Where to place the aquarium?
You already understand that you can’t place an aquarium near a window, but where should you place it? It is optimal to choose the least illuminated corner of the apartment for it. Sunlight should not penetrate it.

Also, when choosing a place for your tank, remember that it is a decoration and your pride. That is why it must be placed in such a way that you can admire the beauty without difficulty.

Aquarium in the house according to Feng Shui
Do not place an aquarium in a student's room, it interferes with concentration and discipline. According to Feng Shui, an aquarium in a house is best placed in the living room in the career or wealth zone.
If there is often quarreling, disputes and tense situations in your home, it is better to place an aquarium in the north-west. But then it shouldn't be with corals. Corals require water circulation, and calm water is important for family relationships.
If you need to activate the fire zone in your life, then it is better to refrain from buying an aquarium.

Also, if a child is expected in the house, keeping an aquarium in the kitchen according to Feng Shui rules is prohibited.
Aquarium in the kitchen according to feng shui rules
The number of fish should be nine or, if the aquarium is large, their number should be a multiple of nine, because Nine symbolizes harmony in all areas of life.
How to choose a container for different rooms?
Each room has its own characteristics. If you decide to install an aquarium in a room, then first of all you should take into account its functionality. Based on this, the appropriate model, shape and configuration is selected. This will allow you to create an individual room interior with a comfortable environment.
Tasteful interior design
Bedroom
Here you need to install medium or small models. They should have a simple style. The main purpose of the room is a calm, quiet rest after a busy day . Therefore, it would be inappropriate to place bright and catchy containers with live fish here.
If it is not possible to care for underwater inhabitants, then you can install a dry aquarium or its imitation. Thanks to this, there will be no need to regularly change the water and install special lighting.
Peaceful rest after a hard day
Living room
Guests always gather in this room. Therefore, the aquarium can be placed on the wall or in a special niche.
Advice To impress people around you, you need to install only a classic model with a rich underwater world. The equipment can be mounted in a column, partition or used as a table.
Aquarium in the living room - choose a convenient place
If the room has a small area, then it is appropriate to use the container as a partition that separates the workplace and the relaxation area. This will save space and will also be an interesting solution for creating an interior.
Aquarium in the office according to feng shui
You cannot sit with your back to the aquarium; always look at the water. Place it in front of you. According to Feng Shui, an aquarium in the office will increase productivity, remove bad energy, emotionally relax and give strength. At the bottom you can put a figurine of a treasure chest, a sailboat or any other shipping vessel. At the same time, your aquadesign should not contain objects that cannot be located there, but in the natural environment.
To monitor the aquarium in the office, they hire a specialist who arrives at the agreed time to take care of your “living corner”.
Don’t forget to ventilate your office more often, otherwise the fish may not have enough oxygen.
And do not let employees over-feed them, this will increase the percentage of ammonia in the water, the pH balance will be disrupted and the fish will often die. prosperity
Ease of observation and maintenance
The right choice of location for an aquarium very often determines how attractive it looks. It should be located so that it can be conveniently observed. That is, there is no need to fill the aquarium with large furniture and it is advisable that there is a sofa opposite it, where you can sit and watch the fish.
Ease of maintenance is also an important factor. There should be free space next to the aquarium, allowing it to be conveniently maintained.
Vegetation
Three days after filling the aquarium with water, you need to start planting vegetation. For beginners, unpretentious varieties of flora such as ferns, mosses, different types of cryptocorynes and echinodorus are suitable. Aquarium flora is divided into several varieties, each of which is planted in a specific place: for example, flowers with a long and strong stem are planted in the background of the tank, and small and low shrubs are planted in the front.
Setting up an aquarium that is about to be launched for the first time should include planting many plants, since a small number of flowers will not cope with harmful algae and bacteria. Having placed the selected types of flora, you should turn on lighting fixtures for the growth and development of vegetation.
Equipment
No body of water can exist for a long time without the technical equipment that is necessary to care for the reservoir and provide comfortable living conditions for fish and plants. You can install equipment for an aquarium with your own hands, following the simple instructions on the packaging of the equipment, but to do this you need to know what you need to buy from technical devices. So, before equipping an aquarium, you should choose the following devices in the store:
- filter;
- aerator;
- heater;
- thermometer;
- lighting.
Storage tank
The first thing a beginner who decides to get into aquarium farming needs is to buy a tank. There is no need to immediately start with large containers of 300-400 liters. It will be easier for beginners to care for small reservoirs with a volume of 20-100 liters.
It is better to buy a tank made of glass. Glass does not distort reality, does not scratch, and is easy to care for.
The shape of the tank depends on the inhabitants. The most popular are rectangular or square containers. Beginner aquarists should avoid round containers: they are more difficult to care for, and the fish do not feel comfortable enough in it.
After the purchase, you need to think about the location of the future reservoir. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Because of this, the water will constantly bloom, the temperature rises, and algae appear. It is better to install the tank on a flat, durable surface in a bright corner. Sunlight can fall on a body of water, but indirectly. Pet stores have special cabinets for ponds. They look beautiful and are easy to install even in the corner of the room.
Other recommendations
Also, do not place the aquarium near the door. Its sudden discovery will frighten the timid inhabitants of your underwater kingdom. And, of course, the door should under no circumstances touch the aquarium. An aquarium is a fairly fragile thing, so place it in such a way as to minimize the likelihood of breaking it. It is also better not to place it in walk-through areas.
When choosing a place for an aquarium, it is also worth considering that placing it next to the TV is a bad idea. Firstly, a loud sound will cause vibrations in the water, and secondly, electromagnetic radiation can create discomfort for some inhabitants of the underwater kingdom.

Not everyone and not always buy ready-made aquariums along with branded stands. Especially if the aquarium is used or HandMade. At the same time, gluing an aquarium from ready-cut glass with silicone is much easier than making a cabinet yourself. It is clear that the support must be stable, reliable, and withstand a fairly large load... So what should you put it on? By chance, I bought a used aquarium - almost exactly the size (L×W×H or L×W×H) that I had planned (1080×450×450 mm) - 900×450×480 mm, glass thickness - 8 mm, silicate glass, frameless, volume: gross 190 l, netto 154 l, total weight will be about 200-250 kg. The lid will also weigh some, plus a margin of safety. It’s not necessary to go deeper, but there’s no need to go wider. You also need to be able to reach the bottom, even at the back wall, but the arms are not telescopic... I bought it for a specific cabinet... I looked at the cabinet, looked... and somehow it didn’t inspire me with confidence that it would stand and the aquarium, and everything that will be placed there, and that there will still be a margin of safety. I decided not to risk it and try another, more reliable cabinet. And then they put the aquarium, of course temporarily... and exactly on it - on the desk. It’s clear that you don’t really want to use a polished desk for an aquarium. I want something reliable and less polished. What could be more reliable than a metal frame? That's right, only a serial factory-assembled metal frame. And where can I get it? And also the right size? I looked around, looked, thought... and here it is, one might say, in plain sight, waiting and waiting for people to pay attention to it: serial, factory, metal, and even dismountable, and the price is not off the charts, and the size can be picked up and can bear quite a lot of weight. The standard sizes are as follows (L×W×H or L×W×H) 600(1200)×500×520(580,640,700,760) mm. So what is this product? And this is... the most ordinary... school desk (or student desk). True, not every school desk frame can be used as an aquarium cabinet. Which frame is needed and which is not? These “C-shaped” legs are not reliable in this case - the edge that does not have support can, over time, sag: But the shelf is very useful - for all sorts of necessary little things... The legs should be like Roman numeral II, so that distribute the load more evenly, i.e. like this:
but the tabletop should not be attached from top to bottom - there are no unnecessary “stress points” - it won’t take much effort to crack the glass (a tiny grain of sand is enough). This desk has adjustable legs, which are also not suitable for our purposes - they reduce strength:
What design features should a school desk frame suitable for the role of an aquarium cabinet meet? This should be a collapsible frame of a school desk, having two side metal supports connected by a metal crossbar (which is a rigidity element) on which a horizontal rectangular lid is attached. All that remains is to strengthen the tabletop, and if you wish, you can transform it all into a bedside table, you can paint the frame, change the external finish... as always, decoration and design are limited only by our desires, fantasies and capabilities. If you find a discarded school desk, it will be absolutely wonderful. Note: this may be shocking to some, but by placing one desk on top of another you can get quite convenient, in terms of access for maintenance, to the aquarium located under the top desk.
