They must be correctly oriented: how to place windows in a house according to Feng Shui

Many families, when furnishing their homes, focus solely on the appearance of the windows, aesthetics and style. If small children live in the house, then in addition to visual appeal, attention is paid to such aspects as safety and convenience. And, of course, many people pay attention to the view behind the glass.

But rarely does anyone think about what the concept of window openings should be according to Feng Shui. And, accordingly, the location of windows often turns out to be incorrect, which negatively affects the energy of the house.

Ground view

The earth, according to Feng Shui, has complex, dual energy. She not only gives, but also absorbs. Accordingly, a lot of negative and even unhealthy energy accumulates in the earth.

If the windows “look” at the ground, then this will certainly affect the emotional state of people, causing nervousness and aggression or depression.

Mirror film

A special film with a one-way visibility effect is a modern solution that protects from views, only slightly reducing the illumination of the room. By pasting the material on the window, you will see everything that happens outside, and passers-by will only see the street and their reflection.

The film only works during the day and when the light in the room is turned on, it becomes transparent, so it requires additional decor in the form of curtains.

The mirror surface reflects the sun's rays, which will be a salvation from the heat in the summer. Another plus is the protective function. Even if the glass breaks, it will remain in the frame.

Each of the options presented will protect your privacy from prying eyes and provide peace of mind. The choice of suitable material depends not only on individual preferences, but also on the style of the interior.

Window sizes

The size of the window is as important as its location. Small window openings do not provide the required amount of energy flow. This causes an oppressive and overwhelming atmosphere in the house. Windows that are too large are not particularly good either. They “spray” home energy and do not allow it to form. There is no comfort or special atmosphere in such houses.

According to Feng Shui, windows should be positioned so that they are taller than a person's height. The size and shape of the window frame should be harmoniously combined with the doors, ceiling heights, and living space.

Cafe type curtains

An even more interesting solution for creating coziness in an apartment is curtains that resemble the design of a window in a train carriage. They are mounted in the center of the window opening and cover its lower half, leaving access to sunlight.

Unlike blinds, they are easy to make with your own hands. You can use either regular fabric or transparent tulle, combining it with thick curtains.

This option has one drawback - home flowers placed on the windowsill will remain out of sight. They can be placed on additional shelves built into the window opening, or placed on cabinets, cabinets or tables, and the window can be decorated with climbing plants.

View of the road

Feng Shui followers say that roads should not be visible from windows. This type contributes to a constant leakage of energy, which negatively affects the atmosphere in the house.

If the windows face the road, then household members develop a feeling of anxiety; people feel that they have forgotten something and they need to go somewhere, do something. Such an emotional state will certainly negatively affect the well-being of the family.

I live in a new building, in a nice, cozy apartment, and opposite my house there is the same ten-story building. So, before I didn’t notice anything special about her, but one evening I lingered on the balcony with a cigarette and something caught my attention. In one of the windows of the house opposite, on the 10th floor, the light was constantly turning on and off. After standing like that for about 10 minutes, I went to bed, but began to spend some of my free time watching outside the window every evening. It turned out that the window blinked very unevenly: the light either stayed longer, or, on the contrary, the darkness lasted longer. I had an idea about Morse code, but I couldn’t decipher anything intelligible. I even bought old binoculars at a flea market, but, unfortunately, I couldn’t see anything, since the window turned out to be curtained with a white curtain, letting in light but not allowing me to look into the apartment.

One weekend I stayed at my laptop until three in the morning. I glanced out the window, and my attention was drawn to the fact that the object of my observations was no longer blinking, but was burning somehow especially brightly. I went out onto the balcony, took binoculars and peered. The curtains were open, and a dark silhouette stood on the other side. No matter how hard I tried, I could not see the face of its owner. I caught myself obsessively thinking that I had been noticed.

Suddenly the light in the window went out. As in the entire quarter. As soon as my eyes got used to the darkness, I noticed a gray shadow quickly running across the yard and flying into my entrance, loudly slamming the door with the combination lock that had become useless. Soon I heard a loud knock on the door. The last thing in the world I wanted to do was go to the door, but the worm of curiosity that was nagging me during my attempts to solve the riddle of the window was tempting me to look through the peephole, enticing me with the opportunity to get all the answers. Trying to make as little noise as possible, I crept up to the exit and clung to the peephole in the same way as to the eyepiece of binoculars. In the dim light of the moon falling into the entrance, I saw a humanoid creature. Realizing what I had seen, I began to pray, but then fell into a saving faint. I woke up in the morning, right there, in the corridor. There was no knocking outside the door, but for a long time I did not dare to approach and make sure that everything was over. During this time, electricity was already supplied. A survey of the few neighbors was unsuccessful. However, I am still confident that I saw an unknown creature knocking on my door with its face. A face consisting of one large mouth.

I don't look out the windows anymore.

One window opposite another

The windows located opposite look incredibly beautiful and attractive. They fill the room with light and air, making it a great place for dance parties and celebrations with a large number of guests. And if the room is really intended for social receptions, then this arrangement of window openings is quite appropriate and even correct.

But in living rooms and in the kitchen, such a layout is not allowed. According to Feng Shui, windows positioned in this way are like tunnels through which street energy passes without interacting with the home atmosphere. That is, the energy of the house is not renewed.

The same applies to the location of window openings opposite the doors.

Tulle

This is one of the classic ways to protect an apartment from prying eyes - tulle in combination with curtains perfectly prevents the violation of personal space, gives the interior comfort, hides window defects and masks heating radiators.

If you live on the ground floor, combine tulle with curtains: a thin fabric will protect you during the day, and a tightly drawn fabric will protect you in the evening.

The corner of the house looks out the bedroom window - an example from Feng Shui practice

My clients were choosing an apartment and asked me to evaluate the Feng Shui of the apartment before purchasing. I asked to find out the composition of the family and the reason for selling the apartment. The owners of the apartment were a married couple with a small child. Reason for sale: divorce and division of property. I looked around the apartment and noticed that the corner of the neighboring house looked into the window of the matrimonial bedroom. The neighboring house was close and the influence of the “Sha corner” was noticeable. The angle itself cannot lead to divorce, but under its influence problems can appear that divide the family. I did not recommend clients to buy this apartment and they found a better option.

Modern methods of window protection

Modern engineering has come up with several ways to additionally insure window structures against burglary. Professionals in this business assure that choosing only one of them is stupid and short-sighted, since protecting windows is a complex undertaking. To prevent burglary, it is necessary to additionally strengthen the window frame itself, the sash locking system, and protect the light openings. The use of special anti-burglary fittings will help with this.

Advantages of special fittings for windows

Most often, thieves enter through the window sash, since this method is the most silent and requires little time. That is why window fittings are so important in the process of protecting a room from robbery. Its main task is to prevent the door from opening quickly. When installing such mechanisms, it becomes very difficult to press it or remove it.

High-quality anti-burglary systems can even withstand a mount and can protect locking connections. Only a grinder or some kind of electrical cutting device can cope with it. But even such a tool will not cope with a protected window at the right time. Faced with security fittings, a burglar will quickly realize that he is taking too much risk and give up. Reinforced mechanisms also have additional advantages:

  • the sash opening system will last longer;
  • the likelihood of corrosion on metal parts is reduced;
  • the processes of closing and opening the doors become smoother;
  • windows become more airtight.

Anti-burglary locks differ from a conventional system in their design:

  • It has more locking points, making opening the sash much easier.
  • At the top of the design of such windows there is a special part - a mushroom-shaped eccentric. Thanks to its shape, it reliably holds the locking elements; it is almost impossible to tear the sash off the eccentric, since a continuous recess is made in the window plate specifically for it.
  • The metal parts in anti-burglary profiles are made not from powder alloys, but from more reliable alloys. There are also profiles with titanium elements on sale. It is extremely difficult to open such a structure from the outside.
  • To solve the problem of how to protect plastic windows from being opened from the outside, manufacturers of especially durable profiles have created handles equipped with a blocking function. This is ensured by a built-in latch that holds the entire mechanism and does not allow it to be opened through the ventilation system. Thanks to the lock, it is impossible to open the window from the outside even through broken glass.
  • The handle mechanism is insured with a special titanium plate. This will help protect it from being drilled from the outside.
  • The transfer angle in the lower hinge area helps to further strengthen the doors against skilled thieves. Such protection complicates the process of removing the sash.

Additional protection can be installed in other window elements.

Roller shutters can be fixed indoors or outdoors

Triple glass windows

Double-glazed windows with triplex also provide additional protection against thieves and are often used in country houses or private homes. Triplex allows you to provide protection against the penetration of thieves through light openings. They are made of two full-fledged durable glasses with a special elastic layer, which complicates the process of breaking the glass.

The soft layer inside the triplex gives the product other attractive properties:

  • Provide additional protection for children's safety.
  • Increases the level of sound and thermal insulation of the room.

The only drawback of triplex windows is that they are heavier. Knowing this, experienced manufacturers, complete with triple glazing, use reinforced hinges that securely hold the sashes.

Reinforced PVC profiles

Among the various profile models, there are those that are distinguished by higher burglary resistance. This property, for example, is available in variants with a mounting depth of 70 mm or more. Frames and sashes with steel reinforcement also provide good protection against theft. Such multi-chamber, reliable double-glazed windows have other advantages compared to conventional profiles:

  • retain heat better;
  • have higher wear resistance;
  • differ in rigidity.

High-quality anti-burglary systems have no disadvantages. When choosing windows equipped with tamper-evident protection, it is important to pay attention to the quality of the plastic. Remember: a fake will not provide the properties that manufacturers guarantee.
