Merging of earthly branches
Energies, called earthly branches in the Bazi, are capable of merging, creating new elements. Double fusions or fusions of six are considered: - The Tiger merges with the Pig, creating a tree; - Bull - with the Rat, creating the earth; - Rabbit - with the Dog, creating fire; — Dragon — with the Rooster, creating metal; - Snake - with Monkey, creating water; — The Horse is with the Goat, creating fire.
This information can be used when analyzing a natal chart or if it is necessary to set up the correct feng shui for a room.
Mergers
In Eastern astrology, it is believed that celestial energies can merge in the most incomprehensible way, sometimes forming unexpected elements. In this interaction, one element overcomes the other, forming a third:
1. Yang-wood + yin-earth = earth. This is merger or trust merger. Usually it is found in the pillars of the destiny of a kind-hearted and friendly person who knows how to value human relationships. Thanks to the fusion of Yang-wood and Yin-earth, the person becomes balanced and calm. But if the earth element obtained through this interaction is unfavorable to a person, then his kindness will be used against him by other people.2. Yang metal + yin wood = metal. This is a merger of justice or a fair merger. A person with such a merger in the pillars of fate has a heightened sense of justice, sensitivity and devotion. If the metal that appears when the yin-wood and yang-metal merge is unfavorable, then the person will look for flaws in everything, which will irritate those around him.
3. Yang fire + yin metal = water. This is the fusion of wisdom or wise fusion. A person who has this type of fusion in the pillars of fate has a developed intellect. For this reason, he may be impatient with people who are not up to his level. If the water formed by the fusion of Yang fire and yin metal is beneficial, then the person will receive excellent results due to his intellectual abilities. When the water is unwholesome, the fusion will reflect negatively on the character, causing the person to be arrogant. Which can cause problems with others.
4. Yang-water + yin-fire = wood. This is a fusion of empathy. Typically, people in whose pillars this type of fusion can be found are sensitive and caring, but at the same time jealous. If the tree formed by the fusion of yin-fire and yang-water is useful, the person takes care of loved ones. When the wood element is not useful, the person suffers from painful jealousy. Therefore, people usually try to escape from its control.
5. Yang-earth + yin-water = fire. This is a fusion of morality or moral fusion. A person in whose natal chart this type of transformation can be found is characterized by morality and decency. These types of people always try to create a good impression of themselves.
These mergers are worth identifying when analyzing the four pillars of destiny. celestial trunks can merge with each other , forming new elements. That is, if, for example, in the pillars there is a Yang tree at the hour of birth, and a Yin earth at the day a person is born, then earth is created. However, still, the Yang tree of the hour should be taken into account when identifying the strength element . After all, energies never create static and unchangeable structures and mechanisms. Simply in this case it will be possible to conclude that the tree in the pillars is weak if there are no other woody elements in the natal chart, and the earth is strong if it is not depleted by other elements or the energy of the season.
If in the map there is a merging of the personality element with another celestial trunk of the pillars of fate, 2 sets of energies will operate for the person. For example, if the element of the personality is “Yang-tree”, and the celestial trunk of the hour is “yin-earth”, then the element of the personality will become earth. Under these conditions, metal will be an element of self-realization for her.
But mergers arise only temporarily, like any other energy structures. As long as conditions are favorable for fusion, a new element is formed. When conditions become unfavorable, the personality element regains its original qualities. That is, in this case, when the merger does not occur, the element of self-realization remains fire. By analogy with all other components of human destiny.
It will be easier for such an ever-changing personality to find a job in the direction of fire (south) in a company founded in the year of the Monkey or Rooster (metal). She will feel more comfortable if wood and earth (elements of her personality) are strengthened at once. She will be lucky with money when earth and water are strengthened. For her, the profession of an artist (water) in ceramics (earth) could become profitable.
Terms of merger
1. Different schools of Bazi recognize different conditions under which the heavenly trunks can connect to create a new element. Some specialists in Eastern astrology believe that only the celestial trunk of the year and month can merge, others allow the merging of the day and month.
In fact, any heavenly trunks can merge with each other without any conditions. For example, the celestial trunk of the year is capable of merging with the celestial trunk of the day or hour.
2. Another condition in most Ba Tzu schools is that the season supports the energy that is created between the heavenly trunks. That is, the season must feed this energy or have an identical element.
But in fact, energies can merge without the element they generate being supported by the season. It’s just that in the season when the element that arises from the interaction of two heavenly trunks is suppressed, it will be extremely weak, and therefore its manifestation may be invisible even to the master Ba-Tzu.
3. In many schools of Eastern astrology, it is believed that the merging of the heavenly trunks is possible only if the chart has corresponding supporting earthly branches:
a) Yang wood and yin earth create earth only if the earth branch of the month contains an Ox, Goat, Dragon, Dog, Horse or Snake. That is, animals whose energies support the element that arises during the merger.
b) Yang metal and yin wood turn into metal when one of the following demons is located in the earthly branch of the month: Ox, Dog, Goat, Dragon, Rooster or Monkey.
c) Yang fire and yin metal create water if Monkey, Rooster, Rat or Pig is located in the earthly branch of the month.
d) Yang-water and yin-fire turn into a tree if it is supported by the earthly branch of the month of the Tiger, Rabbit, Rat or Pig.
e) Yang-earth and yin-water create fire when there is a Tiger, Rabbit, Horse or Snake in the earthly branch of the month.
In fact, the celestial trunks can merge without the element they generate being supported by the earthly branch of the month. For example, if the celestial trunks of the day and month of a person’s birth merge to form the earth, then in the absence of one of the earthly branches listed above and if there is a medium or large amount of the earth element in the pillars, this element will arise and be strong. And with a small amount of land it will arise, but it will be weak. In other words, the presence of an animal with supporting energy in the earthly branch of the month is not a condition for merger. These are just conventions accepted in some schools of Ba-Tzu.
Triple combinations of earthly branches in Bazi
In the East, it is believed that the earthly branches in Baz-Zi are capable of creating triangles that form new energies: 1. Tiger + Horse + Dog = fire. 2. Monkey + Rat + Dragon = water. 3. Pig + Rabbit + Goat = tree; 4. Snake + Rooster + Ox = metal.
Animals of the year, month, day and hour of birth of an individual can form new elements among themselves. And besides, the animal of tact, the new year, the next month, day and hour can create, together with the earthly branches of man, triangles and new elements.
Emptiness of earthly branches
In the pillars of fate calculated in the Ba-Tzu calculator, an empty earthly branch may be observed. It is identified using a special table or list. This one is available at this link.
If the element of the earthly branch, like the heavenly trunks hidden in it, is unfavorable for a person, then an empty earthly branch will not bring anything negative to a person’s destiny. If the earthly branch of the next year, month or period of a person’s life collides with an empty earthly branch, then the collision does not occur. When the element of an empty earthly branch and the heavenly trunks hidden in it are favorable to a person, then this harms him. Read more about emptiness in Ba Tzu.
Hidden heavenly pillars in earthly branches
Heavenly trunks and earthly branches differ in that additional elements are hidden in the latter. This happens because the manifested world is the result of the interaction of primary elements. And therefore, pure energies similar to those that are outside the manifested world do not exist in it. Everything consists of a palette of energies mixed together. In every earthly branch there are hidden heavenly trunks. It can be only one element or three at once. Details about hidden trunks.
Where did the name come from?
In the unconventional science of the East, Feng Shui , it is believed that energies come from the sky and move towards the earth. Therefore, the heavenly elements are called trunks, and the earthly elements are called branches. Celestial trunks are light and airy energies that can easily change and achieve balance. What does not happen to earthly ones.
The manifested world was created from pure primary elements, which were launched into a cause-and-effect chain as a result of the activity of the primary consciousness of the dark substance. In the unmanifested world, energies are pure primary elements: metal, wood, fire, water and earth. In the manifested world, energies are always “cocktails”. But the heavenly elements are still close to the primary elements, but the earthly ones are too heavy.
Seasonal mergers of earthly branches
There are four seasons in a year, each of which includes three months. During each season, strong energy is generated:
1. A tree forms in the spring. It is born in February - the month of the Tiger, develops in March - into the Rabbit and reaches its apogee in April - into the Dragon. 2. In summer - fire, born in May - in the Snake, developing in June - in the Horse and gaining strength in July - in the Goat. 3. In autumn - metal, born in August - in the Monkey, developing in September - in the Rooster, reaching its apogee in October - in the Dog. 4. In winter - water, which is born in November - in the Pig, developing in December - in the Rat, reaching its climax in January - in the Ox. In Bazi, it is believed that the seasonal fusions of earthly branches create very strong energy. For example: 1. Tiger + Rabbit + Dragon = tree. 2. Snake + Horse + Goat = fire. 3. Monkey + Rooster + Dog = metal. 4. Pig + Rat + Ox = water.
It is worth noting that in order for these mergers to occur, the natal layout of the date of birth must contain the corresponding celestial trunks located not in the lord of the day (in the place where the element of the personality is indicated), or the corresponding earthly branch must be present in the earthly branch of the monthly pillar.
That is: 1. Tiger + Rabbit + Dragon merge into a tree if the pillars have a heavenly trunk “Yin-tree” or “Yang-tree” or the earthly branch of the month is the Rabbit. 2. Snake + Horse + Goat = fire, if in the pillars there is a heavenly trunk “Yin-fire” or “Yang-fire” or the earthly branch of the month is the Horse. 3. Monkey + Rooster + Dog = metal, if in the pillars there is a heavenly trunk “Yin-metal” or “Yang-metal” or the earthly branch of the month is the Rooster. 4. Pig + Rat + Ox = water, if in the pillars there is a heavenly trunk “Yin-Water” or “Yang-Water” or the earthly branch of the month is the Rat.
LESSON 6
This is the sixth lesson in the basics of Bazi and Feng Shui.
In this lesson you will learn about the mergers and collisions of Heavenly Trunks and Earthly Branches.
The Bazi map is not static. The energies that make up the map of fate show only the basic information that is embedded in us at the moment of birth.
The incoming energies of 10-year cycles of luck, the incoming years, months, days and hours create movement in the Bazi chart. This movement occurs in our lives.
What is a combination of elements?
These are two forces that come together. Combinations occur due to strength. Someone forces and forces another to combine. Combinations can be good or they can be bad. And collisions can be good or bad. Everything has two sides, good and bad. This is the Yin Yang principle.
There are different types of combinations. Combinations of Heavenly Trunks and combinations of Earthly Branches.
Combinations of Heavenly Trunks.
Please note that the fusion occurs between the elements of Yin and Yang. Yang Wood merges with Yin Soil, Yang Metal merges with Yin Wood, etc. You can often hear the statement that as a result of fusion a third element is formed. But this is not entirely true. It is the result of the merger that causes the Heavenly Trunks to combine. Therefore, most often, combinations do not bring anything good to a person in life. This is a complicated relationship. Even if a person doesn’t want something, he cannot break this connection. Of course, it all depends on the usefulness of the elements. If a non-useful element comes into a combination, it will have a positive effect on your life, and if a combination includes useful elements, it will be bad. This means that you will not be able to use your useful elements, they are busy with each other and have no time to pay attention to you.
As a result of the combination, none of the elements loses their qualities. The result of these combinations gives us additional information about the person. We can see and learn more, look at the usefulness of the element entering into the combination, at the Deity that participates in it. The combination speaks about the relationships between the elements of nature. There are only two interactions between elements - CONTROL and SUPPORT. There are no other interactions. Based on the analysis of these relationships, we conclude whether this combination is good or bad for a person.
If you look at all 6 combinations, you will see that the elements entering the merges are in a CONTROL relationship. One person controls the other.
If there are elements in your Bazi chart that want to enter into a combination, but the combination does not happen, this indicates that you will always want to do something, but never do it. What you want will be shown by the elements and Deities.
For a combination to take place, two elements must be next to each other. Here we also need season support, and lack of control.
The combination of two animals does not occur because the animals love each other, the combination occurs due to the fact that a certain energy that is present in a person’s life, or appears in his life, in coming periods, causes two animals to come closer together. She is a magnet for them. Without this element, the merger will not happen. Therefore, when we talk about a merger, we take into account several CONDITIONS. These conditions must be met. If the conditions are not met, the combination is considered false. This suggests that a person has desires, inflated demands, and intentions. For example, in the Bazi chart there is a fusion of Snake and Monkey into Water. There is no water in the chart, or it is in a depressed state, or under control, or in a weak stage, or under conflict, then there will be no merger. If Water for a person is money, such a person will want money all his life, a lot of money, he will have inflated ambitions, he will chase material wealth all his life, but will never possess them. Because the conditions of the merger have not been met. As soon as favorable conditions arise in his life, and the stable element of Water enters his life, only then can a person count on some increase in well-being, and only until the energy of Water disappears or is negatively affected.
And if Water is a useful element for humans, it is necessary to create all the conditions so that the animals entering into the combination find each other. These may be people who have the element of animals. For example, you can use two people who have the nature of the Snake and the Monkey in order to work with them in pairs and receive a monetary reward. These can be both the Personality Elements of people and the animals in their Bazi cards. But you need to be very careful in choosing partners. Look and analyze the chart of the person you want to do business with. It should not have a negative impact on the animal you need. And be sure to take into account the pillar in which the animal is located. It could be a year, a month, a day or an hour. The best option is MONTH. If the person you are considering as your partner has a good MONTH for you, and is not negatively affected, both within the chart and from the coming elements, you can take advantage of his luck and get rich. The second person should have exactly the same conditions. A good year or month. If you want to earn money, but in a person’s Bazi chart a good animal for this is located in the day or hour, this will not help you much, since the energy of this animal manifests itself in the person’s personal life.
The Earthly Branches also enter into combinations. What does this have to do with a lot more merging options. There are double combinations, this is the fusion of two animals, there are unions of three animals, they are called triple combinations, or combinations of three, or a triple union. There are seasonal combinations and there are also special combinations between the Earthly Branches.
Double combinations.
This is when two animals are involved in the merger. Why do they come into combination? All the answers are found in nature.
Our Earth constantly rotates around its axis. And the Rat takes the place of the Ox. They are in the same position with each other.
OX merges with RAT - this is a combination of EARTH.
PIG merges with TIGER - this is a combination of TREE
DOG merges with RABBIT - this is a combination of FIRE
ROOSTER merges with DRAGON - this is a combination of Metal
MONKEY merges with SNAKE - this is a combination of WATER
GOAT merges with HORSE - this is a combination of FIRE
These six combinations actually describe the position of the Sun and Moon.
- When the Sun is in the Rat, the Moon is in the Ox
- When the Sun is in Pig, the Moon is in Tigris
- When the Sun is in Dog, the Moon is in Rabbit
- When the Sun is in Rooster, the Moon is in Dragon
- When the Sun is in Monkey, the Moon is in Snake
- When the Sun is in Goat, the Moon is in Horse.
And what these mergers mean will depend on what kind of Deity this or that animal is for you. What are Deities you will learn in the next lesson.
Triple combinations.
Triple combinations involve three animals. Let's look at one combination using the Tree structure as an example. Why is this structure called Wooden? Because the reason for the combination of these three animals is the life cycle of the Tree. Each element of nature has its own life cycle. Every element of nature is born, grows, develops and dies. This same thing happens with any living being on the planet, with any living plant, and the same thing happens with any energy. Energy has its birth, growth, development and then there is a decline in strength in order for a new life cycle to begin. This can be called the cycle of life in nature.
Here is a table of the life cycle of elements of nature:
This table is called the stages of growth and shows the phases of the Qi elements. For example, the Yang Tree begins its growth in the Pig, as you remember, the Pig is the month of November. Next comes the Bathing stage, in the Rat this is December. Until the month of the Rabbit, until March, the energy of the Tree gains strength, and then declines.
Triple combinations involve animals in which the elements are in the stages of Growth, Prosperity and Grave. For example, the structure of a TREE is made up of the animals Pig (Hai), Rabbit (Mao), Goat (Wei). The Tree in the Pig is at the Growth stage, in the Rabbit it is Thriving, and in the Goat, the energy of the Tree goes to the Grave.
The structure of WATER includes the animals Monkey (Shen), Rat (Zi) and Dragon (Chen). Water in the Monkey is at the Growth stage, in the Rat it is Thriving, and in the Dragon it goes to the Grave.
The structure of METAL includes the animals Snake (Sy), Rooster (Yu) and Ox (Chow). Metal in the Snake is at the Growth stage, in the Rooster it is Thriving, and in the Bull it goes to the Grave.
The structure of FIRE involves the animals Tiger (Yin), Horse (Wu) and Dog (Xu). Fire in the Tiger is at the stage of Growth, in the Horse it is Thriving, and in the Dog it goes to the Grave.
The result is powerful structures of Wood, Water, Metal and Fire.
Seasonal combinations.
The Earthly Branches also form seasonal combinations.
SPRING is the season of the Tree. It includes the animals Tiger (Yin), Rabbit (Mao) and Dragon (Chen).
SUMMER is the season of FIRE. It includes the animals Snake (Sy), Horse (U), Goat (Wei).
AUTUMN is the season of METAL. It includes animals Monkey (Shen), Rooster (Yu), Dog (Xu).
WINTER is the season of WATER. It includes animals Pig (Hai), Rat (Zi), Ox (Chou).
Even if there are three animals in the card, the combination may or may not be formed. It depends on some conditions.
- In order for the structure or season of the Tree to be considered formed, it is necessary that the element of Wood be present in the Heavenly Trunks, in the Bazi chart. It could be a Heavenly Stem Yang Tree or a Yin Tree.
- The presence of a MONTH in the Earthly Branch - a cardinal branch of the season or a triple combination - can also indicate the formation of a structure.
The cardinal animal is:
- Rat for the structure of WATER,
- Rabbit - in the structure of a TREE,
- The horse is in the structure of FIRE,
- The rooster is in the structure of METAL.
The usefulness of a particular combination depends on the elements that come into the combination and on the Deities that participate in the merger.
If your Bazi chart has Heavenly Stems or Earthly Branches that come into combination, but the conditions for the formation of the structure are not met, this is bad. This suggests that there are intentions for action, but there is no result, “empty troubles.” But always, when analyzing a card, first of all, it is necessary to determine the usefulness of this or that element, and analyze the Deities that participate in the combinations.
And we move on to considering collisions. What are collisions? Collisions are constellations that are opposite each other.
RAT collides with HORSE
BULL faces GOAT
TIGER encounters MONKEY
RABBIT encounters ROOSTER
DRAGON encounters DOG
SNAKE collides with PIG
The clash of animals speaks of their irreconcilability towards each other. But we cannot say unequivocally that all collisions are bad. As strange as it may sound, collisions are good even more often than combinations. This has been proven by life.
Collisions are about control. In the BATZI chart, this can indicate disagreements between people, that one person controls another. But, as they say, “the truth is born in a dispute.” In cases of breakup or divorce, people who have a clash experience this difficult period much easier than those who have a combination in their BAZI chart, especially if this combination affects the Palace of Matrimony.
Through collisions we can remove negative influences or prevent unfavorable events from entering our lives. You need to respect this type of interaction, since with its help many different life issues are resolved. And even the character of a person who has a collision in the card is much calmer than that of a person with a combination in the card. Because when energies collide, they easily separate from each other without much effort, and we can say the same about people. And if the combination in the BATZI card breaks, people suffer for a long time and painfully. They experience a breakup to the point of committing suicide. When the combination is broken, the person feels as if a part of himself has been taken away from him. So everything in BATZI is very harmonious. It is worth looking at nature, where all the answers lie on the surface.
We should not forget that when dealing with Chinese Metaphysics, we are dealing with energies. Energy is a very delicate matter, therefore it is necessary to approach analysis “at the tempo of a waltz,” flexible and smooth!
